The Plaza de España was the most emblematic building of the Ibero-American Exposition. It is the masterpiece of Aníbal González and has become one of the most popular, representative and, in turn, topical images of Seville. It was built between 1914 and 1928 in a free interpretation of Renaissance and Baroque styles with references to Spanish monuments together with the use of traditional materials of Sevillian architecture: brick and ceramics.
The square forms an immense semicircle, flanked by two 70-meter towers, with an arcade that occupies its entire front; it symbolizes the embrace of Spain and America.
